It Burns When I Pee Episode #0142 “An Interview with Slaughter Daughters”

With our new format we are now releasing interview episodes as BONUS episodes that will be released on Tuesday’s. Our first one is the bad ass gals of Slaughter Daughter. On this episode, they perform live “The Last Moon Ballet” and “Siren” with the help of their friends from Larry & His Flask, Dallin Bulkley, and Andrew Carew. Ariana Celestine and Cecilia Raheb then hand out under a street light outside of The High Note in Pekin IL and talk to us for awhile. We talk about how they met, how the band got it’s name, and how they write songs. We also discuss tattoo’s, musical influences, and relationships. It Burns When I Pee Episode #0141 “Mosquito Mansion”

Summer is here which means… MOSQUITO’S! On this episode Jason saves Blake and Mollz from an attack from a swarm of the deadly bugs. We play music from The Eskimo Brothers, Hank Williams Sr, and Dwight Yoakam. Blake tells the story about the move back to our old apartment and his horrible rash. Jason shares some fun facts about Independence Day and we try out a new bit called “Blakeslist”. We also play a round of “Stay In Character”. Happy 4th of July everyone! This episode launches our new format. Keeping the shows at 60 minutes or less (based off feedback from the IBWIP 2014 survey). In this episode we play music from Drunken Cuddle, Shot to Hell, and Charlie and the Foxtrots. Blake rants about the World Cup again and we also conjure the spirit of our founding father George Washington. We dive deep into some interesting stuff about his life. Mollz also reads some news articles about tents, Super Nanny, and Eminem.

It Burns When I Pee Episode #0139 “Summer Safety”

It’s an all boys event on this episode of IBWIP. Jason and Blake welcome back Brett Conlin into the studio to co-host as well as perform a song. We also spin tunes from Billy Cook, 7 Horses, Sleeping Orchard, Clint Darnell, and The Bootstrap String Duo.

Summer is upon us and we thought it would be great to have safety expert Carmella Fettuccini back on the program. She talks about hydration, sand in your junk, and what SPF sun screen to use. We also play a couple brand new games on the show including IBWIP Speakeasy and Punch It Up. Brett reads some news stories about a taxi driver with tickets to the World Cup and a dieing Beagles bucket list.

We have a baby announcement and Blake talks about him and Mollz going camping after the wedding. During the story Blake becomes increasingly paranoid and jumpy, afraid of who or what could be behind him. Brett shows us his talents as impersonating an Irish pirate and Jason opens up about why Nurse Courtney hasn’t been on the show.

Matt has a new album out called “With Love From Brushy Mountain” and he is here to talk about it.  We also talk about songwriting, life as a traveling musician, and what drives him as an artist. I ask him about his duet with Adam Lee called, “Bass and Trouble”, his plans for the summer of 2014, and much more. We also spin two tracks from the new album including Dead Man’s Blues.

It Burns When I Pee Episode #0137 “An Interview with Graham Lindsey”

What do you do when Graham Lindsey sends you a Facebook message and says he has a new album coming out and if you want a copy? Damn right you say HELL YA! Then when he messages you again and says he is coming through town you say, “FUCK YA!” So that is how it got started… I have never been so nervous to do an interview as I was on this one (and it shows). Sure we had Graham on EP63 but that was different, it was over the phone. Here I was sitting right next to, in my opinion, one of the greatest songwriters of our generation. In the interview, we talk about his new album, “Digging Up Birds: A Collection of Rarities and Others”, where the songs came from, and what has kept him busy the last year or so. We also talk about Old Skull, the punk band he was in when he was 12 years old. Graham sets the record straight about a false Wiki Page statement. We talk about him and his wife Tina (who is the most awesome gal in the world!), along with his current tour with Billy Cook. It’s a great interview and I was honored to be able to spend some time with Graham and his wife while they were in town.

P.S. I also learned that I cannot record worth a crap in that huge room at The High Note; so thanks to Brody Wellman of Carrie Nation and The Speakeasy for making that audio listenable.

It Burns When I Pee Episode #0136 “F&%CKING FOWL”

BOOM! It finally happened! Mollz and Blake finally tie the knot! In this episode Jason get’s the 411 on Blake’s not so exciting bachelor party, the Marriage Can Be Murder dinner theater, and Blake and Mollz gambling habits. We also play Fact or Crap Vegas Edition and introduce a new segment “Jason For The Movies” where Jason has an interesting review the new X-Men movie.

We spin tunes from Hooten Hallers, Josh Morningstar, Molly Gene, Sean K Preston, new music from Matt Woods. We even play Elvis because we can’t talk about Vegas and not play a song from the King.

This episode marks the 7 year anniversary of IBWIP. We would like to thank the artists who have appeared on the show, the listeners who have supported us, and all the people that have spread the word about the show. We love you all. Let’s do another 7 years!

It Burns When I Pee Episode #0135 “An Interview with Call Me Bronco”

I have had this episode done for over a month and it’s been killing me to get it released.  We met up with Call Me Bronco on their March tour when they stopped in at The Brass Rail 2 in Peoria, IL.  I first heard of the band when Mollz came home from last years Muddy Roots Spring Weekender.  Since then we have been burning a hole in their CD. In the interview we introduce you to the guys, talk about how the band got together and much more.
